Operation: Faceless Cry
April 17th 2035
We received intel about an ADVENT transmitter having been set up on the outskirts of Guadalajara, likely linked to the Blacksite in the region. I had the Avenger fly to the location and we dropped Dragunova, Jin Hong, Jordan, Müller and Wallace to take it out. The location was heavily defended. Two mechs, a Sectoid and an ADVENT officer were encountered early on, but our Reaper operative showed her skills by blowing up a truck near them, destroying one of the mechs and the Sectoid. Jordan did quite well with her close-range psionic attacks as well. Her talents are somewhat specialized but could come in handy when we’re trapped in close quarters. Wallace heavily damaged the second mech with her GREMLIN, but couldn’t destroy it before the machine pinned down Müller and Jordan with rocket fire. Hong eventually silenced the thing.
As soon as the rocket fire ceased, Müller jumped out of cover and ran towards the officer, who shot and wounded him pretty badly. Despite this, Müller got up close and successfully implanted his Skulljack in its head. With several hostiles still in the field, Wallace rushed over to try and provide first aid to Müller, who was still firing at the enemy, killing the last of ADVENT’s forces in the process. The area having been secured, Müller ignored his wounds and planted the explosives on the transmitter. Before the team could evacuate, the aliens dropped a few reinforcements, but they were dispatched almost immediately.
This mission couldn’t have been accomplished without Müller’s efforts, and I had no choice but to promote him to Sergeant. The man is a natural leader and the other soldiers respect him, but he also potentially jeopardized the entire mission with his behavior. He was lucky that officer didn’t take his head off when he went “over the top”.
Maybe his stint in the medbay will make him realize he can’t take chances like that unless it’s absolutely necessary. Doc says he’ll be out of action for a month.

The men are setting up their own way of doing things, since we don’t have a strict military hierarchy. They came to me with a proposal and I honestly see no reason to refuse.
They accept the “rank” structure that I proposed to them, based on the number of missions successfully completed, kills recorded and other factors. On their end, they requested that given our increasing notoriety, the veterans need to be known by a callsign rather than their given names.
Pratal Mox, being his pragmatic self, said “Mox” is just fine. I’ll put up a billboard with the names of our soldiers and their callsign for easy reference. This journal is kept as a record for anyone reading this in the future and I’d like them to keep track of the people who made these events happen…no matter the outcome.
